Life in the Past/History:
Foxes have since long ago been part of Chinese mythology and folklore. They have been described as are earnest scholars, devoted lovers, seductresses, tricksters, poltergeists, drinking companions, karmic avengers. In some folk religion they are even worshipped as spirits who through hundreds of years of medidation achieve immortality and divinity.
While not outworldly as described in numerous writings, the werefoxes have established themselves in China. Huang Ling was born to one of the smaller families who have made a niche within the beautiful scenery of the Huangshan mountain range, living a secluded life out of reach for most humans. She enjoyed a carefree life for the first hundred years since her birth, learning the ways and traditions of her kind. But then, they were found by a group of humans dedicated to the hunt of shapeshifters, with the belief that her kind preyed upon unsuspecting humans, draining their essence. None of her family were warriors, and in the ensuing bloody battle, few survived. Being the youngest, she was among the first ones to be sent from the mountain to flee for safety. And that was the beginning of her wandering years.
The hunters were relentless. Forcing her to move frequently, and she grew from naive child to tempered cynic. With a combination of luck, and, in her belief, the protection of her family spirits, she survived hunt after hunt, living through the turmoil filled years of her native land. An opportunity presented itself during the early 1900s, the Qing empire was in chaos, revolution and foreign invasion tore the country and distracted her hunters, permitting her to escape to America.
After leaving the land of her birth, she spent some years exploring, learning all that she could, while carefully masking her age. With the natural charm and charisma of her kind, Ling blended into her new life with ease, carefully covering her tracks at all times. She moved about quite often, even spending some years in Europe. Only to return to America in 2010 and settling in midtown Atlanta.
During her travels, she did numerous jobs, but all the time she found herself drawn back to the passions of her life, herbs and medicine. After settling down, she opened a private clinic specializing in alternative medicine. With time, she's made a name for herself for rarely asking questions, the use of unorthodox medicine, and a precise surgical knife.
